HOOVER, Ala. – After a huge sweep of No. 1 Florida this past weekend, the Mississippi State baseball team is now set to begin postseason play with the Southeastern Conference Tournament at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium in Hoover, Ala.
The ninth-seeded Diamond Dawgs (31-24, 15-15 SEC) will battle it out with eighth-seeded LSU (33-23, 15-15 SEC) today at 4:30 p.m. CT. The game will be nationally-televised on SEC Network.
MSU is riding a four-game winning streak with an 18-8 win over Kentucky in the series finale and then sweeping the SEC Regular Season Champion Florida Gators. Elijah MacNamee, Tanner Allen and Jake Mangum were key players in the sweep, as all three batted above .500.
LSU is coming off of a series loss to Auburn.
Earlier in the year, MSU dropped a series to the Tigers two games to one (March 29-31), but the Dawgs are a much better team and arguably the hottest team in the conference. MSU holds a 212-181-1 advantage over LSU in the all-time series.
