LSU Tigers
RESULT: W (38-14)
Mississippi State took this team to the woodshed last year. Honestly, I don’t see the outcome changing much this year. Although we usually catch the Tigers early in the season, this year we wait until the 7th game of the season to go play in Baton Rouge. Dawgs on top in this one... because we’re just straight up better.
Texas A&M Aggies
RESULT: W (28-24)
Jimbo Fisher & Co.’s first trip to Starkville. One of the tighter games for the Bulldogs this year. I personally think Jimbo Fisher is a great coach and will succeed with the talent he has at A&M. Though he will have struggles his first year. Dawgs on top but in a close one, if not OT.
Louisiana Tech Bulldogs
RESULT: W (48-7)
La Tech is always a little scary every year, but this year with the “should-win games” the Dawgs should dominate. With the defense MSU has, I don’t think these “cupcake teams” score many points on the Bulldogs. State wins this one in dominant fashion.
Alabama Crimson Tide
RESULT: L (27-31)
I want to put W here. I really do. Personally, I think we get closer to beating the Crimson Tide this year than we ever have. I know ... this game is in Tuscaloosa. That is the ONLY reason I’m picking a loss on this one. That Alabama defense is young this year. The Bulldogs give the Tide all they want in Tuscaloosa this year, but Bama wins in a super tight game.
Arkansas Razorbacks
RESULT: W (35-21)
The Bulldogs are having to bounce back from a tough loss in Tuscaloosa. First-half problems, but the Dawgs turn it around in the second half and get things back on track heading into Thanksgiving. Plus I like Chad Morris’ offense.
Ole Miss Rebels
RESULT: Do I have to?
I’m a superstitious human being. I don’t enjoy predicting the outcome of the Egg Bowl. I gave a prediction last year the week of the egg bowl and I was wrong. Here’s what I know: Mississippi State is the most talented team (all-around) in the state. Yes, Barrett Sallee is 100% wrong. Not sure what that guy is thinking, but the best team in the state, going into the 2018 season, is Mississippi State.
