Was there any doubt?
There’s honestly not enough words in existance to describe the legend and the force that was Dak Prescott. He owns or has owned every school record he is eligible for. Not one person can disagree with that. He is the greatest.
Point blank. Case closed.
Dak sacrificed a lot for this university. He could have gone anywhere he wanted. But he chose Starkville to be his home for 4 years. And he made a name for himself. After the 2014 season in which the Bulldogs reached #1 in the nation and made a New Years Eve trip to the Capital One Orange Bowl, it wasn’t known whether or not he would come back for his senior year. I mean why would he? He just finished 8th in Heisman voting and proved everything he needed to prove. I certainly wouldn’t blamed him for departing for the pros. But he stayed, and even went as far to say that the thought never really crossed him mind. He was just ready to get back out there and show the world again why Mississippi State was a force to reckoned with.
He didn’t follow in the footsteps of guys who decided to exploit themselves while they were hot. He just wanted to build his legacy and be loved. And loved he was indeed.
Dak faced a lot of tough situations while he was a Bulldog. He often times was ridiculed by the media. He dealt with attacks from people off the field. And worst of all he lost his mother in 2013 to cancer. But he persevered through it all and gave the Mississippi State Bulldog Family a reason to believe. And he’s yet to let us down. He is our proudest export. He is the starting quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys and is considered to be one of the more elite QBs in the league. Dak has made us all prouder than he can ever know. He represented the school with such class and dignity. He does a lot for the kids of Mississippi as well. He runs a QB camp every summer in Starkville just for the young, up and coming players in the state. How can you not love him?!
There’s also a topic for discussion I want to share with you, the Bulldog faithful.
Should we retire Dak’s number, erect a statue, or both?
My thoughts: We should do both. He is the greatest player to ever come out of this school. He’s done so much for this university. He really helped destroy the stigma that MSU will always be the doormat of the conference. He put us in the national spotlight. He deserves some recognition outside of just being elected to the Ring of Honor.
That’s just my thoughts on it. Please vote in the poll I put below to tell me your thoughts. I feel like if enough people get on board, that idea could become a reality. If you don’t think he deserves anything outside of the Ring of Honor, then that’s perfectly fine. I just want to get your opinion of this.
So there you have it folks. The Top 10 Mississippi State Football Players of all time. Hope you guys agreed with my list. Thanks so much and never forget two things:
Go Dawgs and
Hail State.
