Your Weekend Guide for Football Season Opener

With football quickly approaching, here is your guide to winning all weekend in Starkville.

Every year around this time, football lovers across the country start to feel a touch of fall in the air. Though that feeling may seem like a phantom itch we just can’t quite scratch yet with terrible NFL preseason games or scrolling through articles hyping up our favorite college players, the fact remains that football is close enough to taste. In preparation for the start of the season against Stephen F. Austin, we here at FWtCT have provided a guide for the MSU faithful to conquer the weekend in expert Bulldog fashion.

FRIDAY: If you’re an MSU alum coming home for the weekend I am going to assume you are employed since you have a degree from THE Mississippi State University and will not be arriving in Starkville until after work on Friday just in time to eat a hearty meal at one of the many dining establishments Starkville has to offer. We did extensive research through Twitter polling in order to decide some top weekend restaurant picks to break open the seal on State’s 2018 season. This matter proved to be quite contentious as Two Brothers edged out The Veranda in a close race. You can’t go wrong either way, but the Twitter polls have spoken and I know where I will be on August 31 – eating delicious street tacos in the heart of the Cotton District.

SATURDAY: Praise the Lord and Go Dawgs because it is a night game in Davis Wade Stadium against the Lumberjacks of Stephen F. Austin. Be sure to drink lots of fluids with your meal at the next restaurant poll winner, Bulldog Burger Company. A heavy favorite among twitter voters, Bulldog Burger will not disappoint.

The Junction is the next stop on our guide as it will surely be filled with excitement for the first look at Coach Joe Moorhead’s team. Be sure to continue to stay hydrated and eat plenty of tailgate food to last you through the whole game. Everyone should prepare to be in Davis Wade for the entire time. Once the gates finally open for the first time in 2018, go grab some newly price reduced concessions (Thanks John Cohen) and prepare to cheer on the Dawgs with cowbells in hand. Once we have decisively beaten Stephen F. Austin 45-3, a celebration will be justified. And the voters know there’s no better place to celebrate than our next bar/restaurant which won by a landslide, Bin 612. In this case, you can believe everything you read on the internet because these poll winners are 3 for 3, folks. The Bin’s world famous cheese fries are unmatched when it comes to late night food. A perfect way to end the Saturday.

SUNDAY: Sunday morning just isn’t Sunday morning without a great breakfast. And breakfast just doesn’t get much better than Starkville Café. Again, another slam dunk of a performance by voters, Starkville Café is the picture-perfect place to cap off your weekend and discuss weekend highlights before driving home for church.

Shout out to all the fans who participated in voting to give us these great, can’t miss restaurant picks. Also a big congratulations to Daniel Trussel who won the gift card to Two Brothers!
