Can I get a “HELL YEA!” Ole Miss(12-2, 2-0) is coming to The Hump riding high off a huge win against No. 11 ranked Auburn. Mississippi State(12-2, 0-1), on the other hand, is coming off a really bad loss to South Carolina. The Rebels are currently on a 9-game winning streak while the Bulldogs’ 9-game winning streak just ended. Ole Miss’ two losses came against Butler and Cincinnati and also have two quality wins against Baylor and Auburn. Mississippi State defeated Cincinnati by a margin of 11 and Ole Miss lost by 14. The issue is, Ole Miss played against the Bearcats in November. The Rebels have been a different team since then and have won every game since that matchup.
Last season, Ole Miss fired head coach Andy Kennedy after 12 seasons and hired Mississippi State alum, Kermit Davis. Davis said when he was hired that he wants to do nothing more than beat the Bulldogs. Ben Howland is currently 2-4 against Ole Miss and has only lost once to them at home in his 3 full seasons.
Ole Miss has been a great shooting team over the course of the season. The Rebels are shooting .502 from the field and .382 from behind the arc. The Rebels have two main scorers: Breenin Tyree(17.4 ppg) and Terence Davis(16.0 ppg). Davis also leads the team in rebounds and assists. When the Rebels get to the free-throw line, they cash in. So far this season, Ole Miss is shooting 76.1% from the line.
Both teams come into this game averaging right around 80 points per game. This game will be full of fireworks, a lot of scoring and both teams teams are going to fight until the last second. Mississippi State is still shooting incredibly from deep; no one has been able to stop them, and I don't see why Ole Miss will. Expect the Bulldogs to make more than 10 3’s at the end of the game and the hot shooting to carry them to a victory over the Landsharks. Hail State! Go to Hell Ole Miss!
