What to Watch For

Mississippi State’s corners vs LSU’s wideouts

As the focal point of LSU’s offense is its dynamic wideout duo that is Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase, Mississippi State’s corners will have to show up. Cameron Dantzler and Maurice Smitherman are sure to be man to man with both Jefferson and Chase. Look for a battle throughout, as each matchup could be game changing.

Dantzler and Smitherman can set the tone defensively, but must get off to a quick start. If able to take away Jefferson and Chase, LSU quarterback Joe Burrow will have his work cut out for him. Both upperclassman, Dantzler and Smitherman are students of the game and more than aware of their designated assignments.

Prediction

LSU wins 35-21
