Player to Watch: Mississippi State at Jackson State

Having exceeded expectations thus far, Xaria Wiggins looks to make the most of her increased minutes against the Tigers.

Both offensively and defensively, Wiggins continues to have an impact on the game, as she has been a catalyst for the Bulldogs second unit.

A scorer at heart, Wiggins can create her own shot and is forming a consistent midrange game. If able to become a threat from three and draw fouls in the lane, Wiggins is likely to earn more minutes. At 6-foot-1, Wiggins is a mismatch nightmare, as she will have a significant height advantage over Dayzsha Rogan who stands at 5-foot-4 and Keshuna Luckett at 5-foot-6.

Defensively, Wiggins can force the issue and should post multiple steals and blocked shots. Given Wiggins’ versatility, expect a filled stat line tomorrow night. Though the Bulldogs have been lethal offensively, Vic Schaefer is a defensive mind. If she continues to play smart and limit turnovers, look for Wiggins to see the floor in critical moments.
