Why Jordan Danberry must emerge as Mississippi State’s primary leader

As the team looks to rebound from Saturday’s loss, it is one player’s leadership that can speak the highest volumes.

While Danberry has gotten off to a blazing start, she will have to take things up a notch in hopes of getting the Bulldogs back on track.

Known for her defensive prowess, Danberry has shown no signs of slowing down with 28 steals on the year. That said, she has exceeded expectations offensively, creating her own shot while averaging a career best 13.5 points per game.

Though talented with depth, this year’s squad is still in search of its true face. Unfazed and always willing to show up in the most crucial moments, it is Danberry’s role to lose. Coming off a devastating loss to Stanford, Danberry has the experience to rally her teammates and bounce back.

While Danberry knows how it feels to win and lose, coach Vic Schaefer is sure to rely on her more often going forward. If able to combine an all-round game with unrivaled leadership, Danberry can take the Bulldogs a level higher. Look for her to make a statement against West Virginia on Sunday.

Hail State!
