What to Watch For
Anriel Howard as a scoring threat
Howard has emerged as one of the Bulldogs’ primary leaders. She is more than capable of taking over a game, as Howard should put on a scoring clinic against the Lady Vols. Averaging 15.5 points per game, that total is sure to go up. Head coach Vic Schaefer has relied on her in big moments and that should not change this afternoon.
Look for Howard to put up at least 20. While Mississippi State has been known to get off to slow starts, expect Howard to jump out of the gate quickly. In short, Howard should have her at home.
Jazzmun Holmes on both ends of the floor
Holmes’ ability at the point has been put on full display. Like Howard, she can set the tone early and get the Bulldogs out to a quicker start. She plays with an attitude and will give Tennessee headaches all game long.
But Holmes is just different at home. Though she averages 7.9 points per game, Holmes has compiled 52 rebounds, 111 assists and 46 steals on the year. She can fill any stat line and will do so in today’s game.
Prediction
Mississippi State wins a close one 79-72.
