What to Watch For

Teaira McCowan in the paint

What is there to say about McCowan other than that she is the best big in the game. She is averaging a double double with 17.2 points and 13.7 rebounds per game. McCowan also has 61 blocks on the year, a career high. Expect a double double as well as a few blocks tonight. McCowan has elevated her defensive game and will protect the paint.

That said, foul trouble is a key issue. If able to stay out of foul trouble, McCowan is virtually unstoppable. While has addressed that as of late, McCowan must be aware throughout the season. Look for McCowan to put up monstrous numbers and limit the fouls.

Jordan Danberry as a scoring threat

While Danberry has excelled on defense since last year’s tournament, she has proven to be an offensive scoring threat this season. Now averaging 13.3 points per game, Danberry has become more comfortable with the ball and can create her own shot. Fresh off a 20 point performance against Tennessee, the senior guard should post a similar number.

She can also fill the stat line, but must limit turnovers. If able to not turn the ball over and find teammates for open shots, Danberry will have a game. Expect a double-digit performance along with a couple of steals and game changing shots.

Prediction

Mississippi State wins big, 88-64
