What to Watch For

Anriel Howard’s return to College Station

Having played for Texas A&M, Howard will most definitely look to light it up on both ends of the floor in Aggieland. Howard is a spark plug who can score at will. Expect an offensive clinic, one that should include a double double along with some highlight plays. Though it resulted in a loss, she did post 21 against Mizzou. Howard is averaging 15.8 points and 7.9 rebounds per game.

While we know what she can do offensively, Howard is a significantly underrated defender. With 13 blocks and 30 steals on the season, she is not afraid to take charges and protect the paint. Look for Howard to have a few tone setting plays on defense.

Teaira McCowan on the boards

Coming off a 12 point 13 rebound performance, McCowan should increase those numbers, as she is sure to take out her frustration on the Aggies. That said, a 20 point 20 rebound outing is not a stretch. McCowan is the game’s best big and must prove that she can bounce back. With three personal fouls against Mizzou, McCowan must stay out of foul trouble in College Station.

She has steadily improved at the line as well. Having gone 4-6 against the Tigers, McCowan should continue to have her way when fouled. Expect a standout game from McCowan and look for her to reestablish that lethal one two punch with Howard.

Prediction
