The Mississippi State women’s basketball team sits at No. 6 in the latest Associated Press Top 25 rankings that were released Monday afternoon.

Last week, the Lady Bulldogs were No. 5.

After a shocking 75-67 loss to a non-ranked conference opponent in Missouri at home, Mississippi State (23-2, 11-1) bounced back with huge 92-64 road win against Texas A&M to earn its 54th week of being in the top ten of the AP Top 25.

In this week’s rankings, three other Southeastern Athletic Conference (SEC) teams sit in the top 25. They include South Carolina at No. 13, Kentucky at No. 16 and Texas A&M at No. 21.

With the Lady Bulldogs losing last week, Mississippi State and South Carolina (19-6, 11-1) are tied for the top spot in the conference.

Mississippi State returns to action on Thursday as the Lady Bulldogs travel to Oxford, Mississippi to face their in-state rival Ole Miss. Currently, the Lady Rebels (9-16, 3-8) are coming off a 65-60 win over Vanderbilt.

Ole Miss features a guard in Crystal Allen who averages 17.5 points per game (third best scorer in the SEC). In the Lady Rebels win over Vanderbilt, Allen posted 23 points off 7-of-18 shooting from the floor. Meanwhile, guard Mimi Reid ranks fourth in assists in the conference, averaging 4.8 per game.

After a road trip to Oxford, Mississippi State returns home for a game against Vanderbilt (6-19, 1-11), a team that is at the bottom of the conference standings.
