Mississippi State fans endured multiple heartbreaking losses this past weekend

Good afternoon, Stark Vegas! It’s going to be tough, but let’s look back at the crazy rollercoaster ride that was this past weekend.

Women’s Basketball advances to the Elite Eight and is upset by Oregon

For the third straight year, the Mississippi State women’s team made a run to the Elite Eight in the NCAA Women’s Tournament after defeating No. 5 seed Arizona State 76-53 on Friday night. On Sunday, Mississippi State squared off against Oregon in Portland and was upset 88-84. In her last game, Tiera McCowan scored 19 and added 15 rebounds and four blocks. Anriel Howard, Jazzmun Holmes, and Jordan Danberry all finished in double figures in scoring in their last games. Holmes had an incredible game and recorded 13 assists with no turnovers. The Women’s team finished the year with a record of 33-4.

Baseball lost the last two games against No. 15 LSU

The Bulldogs opened the series against LSU with a 6-5 victory on Thursday night, lost Friday 10-5, and was defeated in the tie-breaker on Saturday with a final score of 11-2. MSU is in fifth place in the SEC West standings with a record of 5-4 in SEC play. Tennessee and Alabama (Super Bulldog Weekend) are the next SEC series for Mississippi State.

Softball goes 1-2 against No. 3 Alabama

The Lady Bulldogs traveled to the third-ranked Crimson Tide and loses the first two games. In the last game of the series, MSU leaves with a win in extra innings with a score of 12-9.

Women’s soccer defeats Florida

The Women’s Soccer team defeated Florida by a score of 3-2 in an exhibition match on Saturday.

Men’s Tennis defeats Arkansas on Saturday

The No. 9 ranked Men’s Tennis team traveled to Fayetteville, Arkansas and left with a 5-2 victory over the Razorbacks.

Women’s Tennis loses to Arkansas

The Bulldogs hosted unranked Razorbacks on Sunday and were defeated 3-4.

Football has its first scrimmage of spring practice

After three weeks of practice, the Bulldog Football team had its first scrimmage of the year. Joe Moorhead is heading into his second year as head coach and is looking to remove all doubts that manifested last season. On the very first play, Kylin Hill was given the ball and took it 65 yards. Only 5 of those yards were recorded on the unofficial media stat-keeping.

The Bulldog Baseball team hosts UL Monroe on Wednesday night to rebound after the LSU series before traveling to Knoxville.
