Mississippi State star shooting guard Quinndary Weatherspoon was selected by the San Antonio Spurs with the No. 49 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.
Weatherspoon, a native of Canton, Mississippi, played four years in the Bulldogs’ backcourt. The 6-foot-4 guard amassed 2,012 career points in his time as a Bulldog, which is good for third in MSU history.
As as senior, the star averaged 18.5 points per game, which ranked second in the Southeastern Conference. He also contributed 4.7 rebounds per game, 2.8 assists per game and 1.7 steals per game. He will bring efficient shooting to the Spurs but will have to work on his overall game to earn his spot on the roster.
The 22-year-old Weatherspoon led State to the NCAA Tournament in 2019, ultimately being upset by No. 12 seeded Liberty in the first round by a score of 80-76.
