Ethan Small Selected 28th Overall by Brewers in 2019 Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft

STARKVILLE, Miss. — Mississippi State baseball redshirt-junior left-hander Ethan Small was selected by the Milwaukee Brewers with the 28th overall pick in the first round of the 2019 Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft Monday night.

Small, a native of Lexington, Tennessee, is a Collegiate Baseball Foundation National Pitcher of the Year finalist. He also earned first-team All-America honors from Collegiate Baseball Newspaper in 2019. This season he has posted a 9-2 record in 16 starts on the mound with 160 strikeouts and a 1.88 ERA in 96 innings pitched.

His 160 strikeouts are the second-highest total in MSU single-season history, No. 9 all-time on the Southeastern Conference single-season list and No. 2 in the nation this season.

Small was ranked 56th on MLB Pipeline’s list of the Top 200 Draft Prospects.
