Why Kylin Hill and Nick Gibson are the key to Mississippi State’s 2019 offense

Both backs bring a wide array of skills, but must complement one another throughout the season.

Hill and Gibson, each gifted in their own right, will have to make an immediate impact for the Bulldogs, as Mississippi State has a lethal one two punch in its backfield.

As a duo, both backs bring power and versatility, set to become one of the offense’s primary weapons. In addition, Hill and Gibson, both upperclassmen, add experience and leadership on and off the field.

Of the two, Hill is the workhorse. Hill is a prototypical power back who can keep defenses on their heels with unexpected speed. He is a patient downhill runner with second to none vision. Hill posted 734 yards on 117 attempts, having found the end zone four times.

Gibson, though Hill’s backup, will have his share of touches. Gibson runs more east west and boasts agility. Expect Gibson to make the most of his opportunities and be a key factor on third down. In nine games, Gibson accumulated 205 yards and averaged 7.6 per attempt.

Hill and Gibson are an integral component to the Bulldogs’ success, as they should jump out of the gate come August.

Hail State!
