The countdown to the 2019 Mississippi State football season continues, as the Bulldogs are set to take on Louisiana in 18 days. Today’s spotlighted player is #18 Aaron Brule.
Brule, a native of Metarie, Louisiana, is a versatile 6-foot-1, 235-pound athlete who can play a hybrid linebacker/safety position for the Bulldogs. He was a two-sport athlete at Archbishop Rummel High School, lettering in both football and basketball.
He was rated as a four-star outside linebacker prospect by Rivals and a three-star prospect by both ESPN and 247Sports. He also ranked as the 23rd-best linebacker in the country and the 12th-best recruit from the state of Louisiana by Rivals and the 17th-best overall prospect in the state of Louisiana in the 247Sports Composite rankings.
Brule originally committed to Kansas in the spring of his junior season before ultimately giving his verbal pledge to Georgia after taking an official visit with Georgia in September of 2017. He ultimately decommitted and signed with Mississippi State over Arkansas and TCU on Feb. 7, 2018.
The redshirt freshman saw action in four contests as a true freshman with the Bulldogs, which allows him to earn the redshirt. His lone tackle came against Louisiana on Sept. 15.
