What does Brian Cole II bring to Mississippi State’s defensive backfield?

Having made his presence felt, Cole continues to be a factor for the Bulldogs’ defense

A safety who plays like a linebacker, Cole has become the tone setter for Mississippi State’s revamped secondary.

Already with 10 total tackles, eight solo, and a sack, Cole has made an immediate impact. The senior is a pure athlete who jumps off the screen. With the departure of former safety Jonathan Abram, Cole has filled the void nicely.

Cole is a hard hitter with speed. He stands at 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds, able to match up with receivers. Additionally, Cole can read the eyes of the quarterback and time snaps, hence his nose for the ball and ability to jump the line of scrimmage.

With a high motor, Cole brings a swagger to the Bulldogs’ defensive backfield. Fellow defensive backs Jaquarius Landrews, CJ Morgan, Maurice Smitherman, and Cam Dantzler feed off of Cole’s energy, as Mississippi State’s secondary is only getting better.

Though Cole may not post mind-blowing stats, he is capable of changing a game. Expect a few momentum shifting plays from Cole against Kansas State come Saturday.
