Fresh off a 28-13 win over Kentucky to open Southeastern Conference play, the Bulldogs look to spoil No. 7 Auburn’s season this Saturday.

Unranked and on the road, Mississippi State has an opportunity to heavily shake up the rankings. Against the seventh ranked team in the nation, the maroon and white should be confident en route to Jordan-Hare.

If the Bulldogs pull off the miraculous upset, it will because of a stout defense. Mississippi State boasts a formidable linebacking corps, as they will have to neutralize Auburn quarterback Bo Nix, a star in the making. That said, it is Erroll Thompson that must lead the charge.

The 6-foot-1, 250-pound junior will have to leave it all on the field. Furthermore, Thompson has emerged as a strong leader. While Thompson has 30 tackles on the year, he has no sacks or forced turnovers. Expect him to have one or both against the Tigers.

Given this is college football, an upset is always in the cards. Mississippi State’s defense has no fear but will have its hands full. Though the Bulldogs are sure to ask a lot from Thompson, the upperclassman is a student of the game and should have his way.
