On Saturday’s newest segment, managing editor, Landon Young, does this week’s Southeastern Conference pick ‘em challenge with his father, Gerald Young.
My father is the reason I am so crazy about Mississippi State sports. He brought me home from the hospital when I was born in a No. 1 Mississippi State jersey. Growing up, we woke up early every Saturday and watched ESPN’s College GameDay together while drinking some fresh coffee. This week’s cover picture was taken right after Nick Fitzgerald dominated the LSU Tigers in 2017. Every week, I call him before Saturday and we discuss who will win this Saturday inside the SEC. We will discuss betting lines, close games and winners each week.
Let’s PICK ‘EM:
SEC Week 3
Florida (-7) at Texas A&M
Pops: Florida to win and cover. I look for Florida’s defense to shut down Kellen Mond today.
Son: I’ll take Florida to win and cover as well. I haven’t been impressed with A&M thus far.
South Carolina (-13) at Vanderbilt
Pops: South Carolina wins, but Vandy covers the (-13).
Son: SC wins and covers.
LSU (-14.5) at Missouri
Pops: LSU wins and covers.
Son: LSU wins and covers.
Tennessee at Georgia (-12.5)
Pops: I’m taking Georgia to win and cover. Tennessee is not near as good as they think they are.
Son: This one really interests me today. I’ll take Georgia to win, but Tennessee covers.
Arkansas at Auburn (-14)
Pops: Give me Arkansas to upset the Tigers today!
Son: Auburn wins... Arkansas covers.
Alabama (-24) at Ole Miss
Pops: Reluctantly, I’ll take Ole Miss in the points, but Bama wins.
Son: Bama wins and covers. Bama isn’t looking too shabby on the offensive side of the ball.
Mississippi State at Kentucky (-2)
Pops: I’ll take Kentucky to win flat out. Obviously, hoping to lose this pick and take one for the team. Not betting against the Bulldogs didn’t help me last week. So, I’m going to try some reverse psychology today. I mean, I do have a degree in psychology anyways.
Son: Whew... I’ll take the Dawgs to win in Lexington, Kentucky. today.
