Pops/Son Pick ‘Em Challenge: SEC Week 5

Managing Editor, Landon Young, collaborates with his father, Gerald Young, on this week’s SEC pick ‘em challenge.

On Saturday’s newest segment, managing editor, Landon Young, does this week’s Southeastern Conference pick ‘em challenge with his father, Gerald Young.

My father is the reason I am so crazy about Mississippi State sports. He brought me home from the hospital when I was born in a No. 1 Mississippi State jersey. Growing up, we woke up early every Saturday and watched ESPN College GameDay together while drinking some fresh coffee. This week’s cover picture was taken during an Alcatraz tour in San Francisco. Every week, I call him before Saturday and we discuss who will win this Saturday inside the SEC. We will discuss betting lines, close games and winners each week.

Let’s PICK ‘EM:

Auburn (-3) at Ole Miss

Pops: Ole Miss wins and covers. I think they bounce back this week after a tough loss to Arkansas. I hope not, but I think they will.

Son: Nah, Pops! We here at FWtCT always pull against the Sharks! I’ll take Auburn to win and cover.

Alabama (-21.5) at Tennessee

Pops: I’m going to take Tennessee in this one. Obviously, not to win but in the points. Tennessee hadn’t looked poor until last week and that was only because of bad quarterback play in the start. Alabama wins 38-20.

Son: Roll Bama Roll. Tennessee won’t stop them from laying 50-plus points on them. I’ll take Bama to cover the 21.5. Bama wins 52-21.

Kentucky (-5.5) at Missouri

Pops: I’ll take the Tigers in this one. Missouri has looked sharp on the offensive side of the ball.

Son: This is the hardest pick of the week to me. Mizzou’s last game was an upset win over LSU. Kentucky just dominated Tennessee. Hmm... I’ll go against Pops and take the Wildcats to win and cover.

South Carolina at LSU (-6)

Pops: LSU wins big in Death Valley. I’m taking the Tigers to cover.

Son: Have y’all seen that LSU hype video for this Saturday? Ain’t no way they’re losing. Tigers by 21! Nah... But I will take LSU to cover in this one. Check this out:

Y’all, feel free to comment your pick ‘ems as well. Challenge me and pops!
