Mississippi State Football: What should we expect from JaVonta Payton going forward?

JaVonta Payton must take his game to a higher level for the Bulldogs to turn their season around, as he is one of the critical weapons in Mississippi State’s receiving corps.

He stands at 6-foot-1, 180 pounds. Payton is a multipurpose receiver who can excel in both the slot and along the sidelines. Able to be used in many schemes, we have yet to see his full versatile skillset.

The competition is only getting to be more challenging for the Bulldogs, as Payton will need to be at his best come Saturday and beyond. Thus far, Payton has hauled in 15 catches for 188 yards and a touchdown. Of those 188, 122 of those yards coming against LSU, his lone 100-yard game of the year.

There is no reason to believe Payton will not post north of 100 yards this season with his abilities. He is too talented. Look for him to be a decisive factor on Saturday.

Hail State!
