On Saturday’s newest segment, managing editor, Landon Young, does this week’s Southeastern Conference pick ‘em challenge with his father, Gerald Young.
My father is the reason I am so crazy about Mississippi State sports. He brought me home from the hospital when I was born in a No. 1 Mississippi State jersey. Growing up, we woke up early every Saturday and watched ESPN College GameDay together while drinking some fresh coffee. This week’s cover picture was taken at one of our favorite places on earth in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. Every week, I call him before Saturday and we discuss who will win this Saturday inside the SEC. We will discuss betting lines, close games and winners each week.
Let’s PICK ‘EM:
Vanderbilt at Mississippi State (-19)
Pops: I am certainly taking the Commodores to cover the 19-point spread. I think the Mississippi State Bulldogs will win, but I don’t think it will be a dominant performance.
Son: This one is tough for me because I believe if the offense can get going on Vanderbilt’s subpar defense, Mississippi State could cover. I’ll take the Bulldogs and go against Pops.
Texas A&M (-7.5) at South Carolina
Pops: Texas A&M wins and covers. Easy pick.
Son: I’m not so sure that it’s an easy pick. I’ll go against you and take the Gamecocks to cover.
Tennessee (-2) at Arkansas
Pops: Give me the RAZORBACKS!
Son: I’ll take the same as pops. I feel like this is the easy pick of the week.
Florida vs. Georgia (-3)
Pops: I’m taking to Gerogia to win and cover. It could still be a close game, but I’ll take the Dawgs to cover.
Son: Whew... Georgia looked rough against Kentucky last week. I’m taking Dan Mullen and the Florida Gators.
