STARKVILLE, Miss. — Mississippi State second baseman Justin Foscue has been selected by the Texas Rangers with the No. 14 overall pick in the 2020 MLB Draft.

With his first-round selection, Foscue becomes the 16th Mississippi State Bulldog to get picked in the first round.

The native of Huntsville, Alabama, hit .331 with 66 runs and 60 RBIs in 2019 on his way to earning All-American honors. He was hitting .321 this year before the season was stopped abruptly due to COVID-19 just 16 games into the season. In his Bulldog career, Foscue hit .297 with 153 hits, 19 home runs and 96 RBIs.

This year’s draft has been shortened to just five rounds as opposed to the the traditional 40 rounds, which was an agreement between MLB and the Players Association.

The remaining four rounds will be held on Thursday night.
