Orioles Select Jordan Westburg

Westburg is the second Bulldog off the board in the 2020 MLB Draft.

STARKVILLE, Miss. — Mississippi State shortstop Jordan Westburg was selected by the Baltimore Orioles with the No. 30 overall pick in the 2020 MLB Draft on Wednesday.

Westburg was the first pick of Compensation Round A and becomes the second Bulldog drafted this year. Second baseman Justin Foscue was selected No. 14 overall by the Rangers.

In 124 games with the Maroon and White, the New Braunfels, Texas native hit .285 with 127 total hits, 103 runs, 102 RBIs and 10 home runs.

In 2019, Westburg boasted a .294 batting average with 78 hits, 68 runs and 61 RBIs. Through 16 games this season, he was hitting .317 to go with a sluggging percentage of .517 and an on-base percentage of .432.

The 30th overall pick has a slot value of $2,365,500.

The draft concludes Thursday with the second through fifth rounds.
