With just three days to go, today’s focus is the face of Mississippi State’s offense, star quarterback K.J. Costello.

A prototypical signal-caller, Costello possesses the requisite tools to make him one of the game’s most formidable. Standing at 6-foot-5, 225 pounds, he is a pure pocket passer, but will run if necessary. And while his 2019 campaign was cut short, Costello is more than motivated to lead one of the nation’s most intriguing offensive attacks.

In three years at Stanford, Costello completed 495 passes for 6,151 yards and 49 touchdowns. Now in an air-raid system, look for Costello to take advantage of the weapons at his disposal, most notably running back Kylin Hill and wideout Osirus Mitchell. As he comes from the Pac-12, Costello is venturing into uncharted SEC waters. And though that has proven to be a problem for many transfers, Costello has all the pieces in place.

He boasts a rocket arm, the perfect weapon for a Mike Leach led offense. Given the Bulldogs offensive line coupled with Hill’s ability pass protect and pick up blitzes, expect Costello to shine against LSU’s defense. While he may not be a stat stuffer, Costello knows how to get the job done, and it starts this Saturday in Baton Rouge.

Hail State!
