#2 Days Until Mississippi State Football: Tyrus Wheat

Two days until Mississippi State football!

Tyrus Wheat will be wearing No. 2 on defense when he begins his Mississippi State football career Saturday afternoon in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, as he and the Bulldogs take on the defending national champs, the LSU Tigers on CBS. It promises to be an old “Rock-em Sock-em” brawl that won’t be for the faint-hearted.

Wheat comes to State from Amite, Louisiana, by way of Copiah-Lincoln Community College. At 6-foot-2, 260 pounds, Wheat is a pure junkyard dawg! He was the No. 1 linebacker in the junior college ranks for 2019 after posting 104 tackles in his two years at Copiah-Lincoln. Wheat will be playing Sam linebacker for the Dawgs and will make anyone wearing LSU colors see stars when he ROCKS their world!

Kids watch football as they grow up, then go outside and pretend they are battling against the best to show they belong. The same was true for Wheat, I am sure. Saturday in Death Valley, Wheat will make his case for being one of the best, as he and his Dawg teammates conquer LSU in their backyard, just like he did as a kid.

Have a great game! We are all with you! You are in the Dawg Family now.

Hail State!
