State lost to #10 LSU last night, 3-2. Chris Stratton pitched very well, striking out 17 and giving up one run in 8 2/3 innings. Mitch Slauter hit a go-ahead solo home run in the Top of the 10th, but it wasn't enough as LSU got to Caleb Reed in the bottom of the 10th and scored two runs. Game 2 is tonight at 6:00 on CSS.
After being named to the Coaches All-SEC first-team last week, Dee Bost and Arnett Moultrie completed the All-SEC sweep Monday, as they were named to the Associated Press' first-team All-SEC. Bost averaged 15.6 ppg and 5.3 apg this season, while Moultrie averaged 15.8 ppg with 10.6 rpg and led the SEC in double-doubles.

Mississippi State moved up to #21 in this week's Baseball America rankings after a 2-1 showing this past weekend against a solid Mercer ball club. In addition to their rise in the Baseball America Top 25, the Bulldogs also moved up to #13 in the latest Perfect Game Poll, and up to #21 in this week's USA Today/ESPN Top 25. State will return to action Tuesday to take on Southeastern Louisiana. #HailState

After a 10-2 start, the Baseball America College Baseball Polls felt they could no longer ignore Mississippi State as a Top 25 team. The dogs entered this week’s Baseball America rankings at #23 after yet another perfect 4-0 weekend of baseball. The dogs also entered the ESPN/USAToday poll today at #23, and additionally climbed to #16 in the Perfect Game poll, which that entered last week at #18. Also ranked in this week’s Baseball America poll from the SEC are Florida (#1), South Cackalacky [Carolina] (#3), Arkansas (#4), Georgia (#9), LSU (#13), and Ole Missed (#14). State returns to action tomorrow to take on B1G foe Penn State in a two game midweek series at Dudy Noble.

State's hot start to the baseball season finally garnered them some media love yesterday as the Bulldogs cracked their first top 25 poll of the season, coming in at 18th in the latest Perfect Game rankings. The Bulldogs were also ranked 15th in the latest RPI released by warrennolan.com. The bulldogs continue their 17 game home stand tomorrow against the Memphis Tigers.
