We reported just moments ago that Oklahoma State had announced that Mississippi State and Oklahoma State will, in fact, play to kick off the 2013 football season August 31 at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas. The game will be the inaugural game of the new Texas Kickoff Classic, mirroring recent kickoff classic's in Dallas (Cowboys Classic) and Atlanta (Chick Fil A Kickoff).
Just moments ago, HailState.com released their press release on the game, which includes information for fans wanting to purchase tickets for the event:
Mississippi State's athletic ticket office has already begun accepting orders for the Texas Kick Off Classic. With prices ranging from $45 to $125, Mississippi State's allotment includes 10,500 tickets with 9,700 located along the sideline. A detailed seating map will be available at HailState.com.
Scott Stricklin had this to say with regards to the game's creation:
"This is a great opportunity for our team to open the 2013 season in an NFL stadium," said Scott Stricklin, Mississippi State Director of Athletics. "It provides our fans a unique destination for the season opener. We have a great fan base in Texas, as well, who will be excited to see the Bulldogs play in their home state."
This will be the fifth time the two schools have met on the gridiron and the first since a September 1999 meeting, a game which MSU won 29-11.
