Senior OL Gabe Jackson has been ranked, listed and recognized several times lately. The most recent time being by ESPN (SEC Blog) in their countdown of the 25 best players in the Southeastern Conference based on his performance during the 2012 season.
Jackson received first-team All-SEC honors last year and appeared on the watch lists for the Lombardi and Outland awards in both 2012 and 2013. He has also been named the best offensive lineman in the SEC by Birmingham News.
Jackson was a starter in all 13 games last season, grading champion in 12 of those games. With heavy contributions from Jackson, last year's offensive line gave up the second fewest number of sacks in the SEC and 29th fewest in the nation.
Now that we see that Jackson has become a very seasoned member of the team, what can we expect from the veteran this season? Jackson weighs in at 335 pounds, stands 6 feet 4 inches tall and has a 31 inch vertical jump. His physique definitely makes him an anchor for the offensive line, which rushed for more than 150 yards in more than half of the games last year. With his stamina and size, Jackson is bound to rise above his personal bests this year and land himself on both All-American lists and then All-SEC honors list again.
