Nick James, Quay Evans do not travel to Houston; suspended?

The duo weren't listed on the two-deep at DT when Game Notes were listed earlier in the week, and it looks more and more like they are suspended for the season opener today.

For weeks now we've heard rumors swirling about the status for Nick James and Quay Evans, and today we have our first concrete sign that something is up with the duo.

David Murray of GenesPage.com reports via Twitter that the duo did not travel to Houston today.  This follows the release of game notes earlier in the week when neither was listed in the two-deep at defensive tackle, which was surprising.

The duo, both sophomores, played in a combined 18 games as freshmen in 2012, and were expected to see significant time at defensive tackle this fall, if not push for starting spots.

We will update as things are firmed up, but right now it's a safe assumption that the two are suspended for today's opener.  How long after that and what for will be the next questions.  We may not find out much about the latter, but the former is important, as State goes to Auburn in two weeks for the SEC opener.
