Following a 48-31 victory over #6 Texas A&M, the Mississippi State Bulldogs have climbed into the top 5.

Marvin Gentry-USA TODAY Sports

After the second dominating performance in a row from Mississippi State, the Bulldogs have climbed into the top 5 of the Associated Press Poll. They come in this week tied for #3 spot in a deadlock with Ole Miss. It is the first time in the history of the State that both teams have been ranked in the top 5 at the same time. The Bulldogs received two first place votes.

The top 5 features three teams from the SEC West division, with Auburn one spot ahead of State and Ole Miss at #2. Florida State remained on top at #1, and Baylor rounded out the top 5.

It was a crazy weekend in not only the SEC, but for the entire top 25. 11 of the top 25 teams suffered a loss, including 5 from the top 10 alone. Texas A&M fell all the way to #14, and Alabama fell to #7 after road losses to the Mississippi Schools. Oklahoma fell to #11 and TCU fell to #12, after losses to TCU and Arizona, respectively. UCLA fell all the way to #18 after stumbling against Utah.

The conference as a whole has seven teams in the top 25. Other SEC teams not mentioned above include Georgia at #13 and Missouri at #23. LSU dropped out of the top 25 for the first time since 2008.
