ESPN Releases Early SEC Projections for 2015

It's never too early to look ahead to another football season. See where ESPN predicts Mississippi State will finish in 2015.

John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

The 2014 college football season came to an end last night with Ohio State's victory in the National Championship, and ESPN has already released its early predictions for every conference in 2015.

Here is the order for the SEC:

1.     Georgia

2.     Auburn

3.     Alabama

4.     Ole Miss

5.     Arkansas

6.     LSU

7.     Tennessee

8.     Missouri

9.     Mississippi State

10.  Texas A&M

11.  Florida

12.  South Carolina

13.  Kentucky

14.  Vanderbilt

That would put Mississippi State sixth out of seven teams in the West. Barring something unexpected happening like Dak Prescott declaring for the NFL draft, it's hard to imagine they would fall that far. The Bulldogs finished third in the final power rankings for this season.

Auburn, Alabama, Ole Miss, and LSU will all have major questions at quarterback. Any one or several of those teams could stumble in 2015. Arkansas returns a lot of talent along the offensive line and two of the better running backs in the league. They could be the dark horse for the SEC Championship next season. Texas A&M has recruited well but continues to be one of the worst teams in the country defensively.

It's still way too early for predictions, but it looks like many people may view MSU as a one-year wonder. Mark Schlabach released his early top 25, and Mississippi State did not make the list.
