2015 Mississippi State Football Recruiting: Collins S Mark McLaurin commits

The rangy safety becomes the eighth (!) new Bulldog commit in the last week.

Student Sports

Sometimes in recruiting this old adage applies: When it rains, it pours.  Things are coming a flood for Mississippi State and Dan Mullen right now, fresh off the heels of the annual Big Dawg Camp which was held last Friday night at Davis Wade.  The night of the camp, Mullen and the staff received seven new commitments for the class of 2015, bringing the total number of commits to 25.  That number grew by one more today thanks to the commitment of Collins, MS safety Mark McLaurin.

McLaurin, a safety with a build similar to that of fellow new MSU commit Jamal Peters (6'3", 200 lbs), chose MSU over additional offers from Ole Miss, Southern Miss, Memphis, UL-Lafayette, among others.  He was in attendance at last weekend's Big Dawg Camp, and despite initially saying he wanted to remain open, he told Bulldawg Blitz "he felt like it was time to do it". There's some more good and in-depth info on McLaurin from our friend Robbie at that Bulldawg Blitz link.

It didn't take long for the coaches to respond to the commitment:

Nor did it take long for McLaurin's fellow #DawgFam15 members to welcome him aboard:
