Peter Green, a volleyball coach with over thirteen years of experience, will join the Mississippi State coaching staff according to Mississippi State head volleyball coach Jenny Hazelwood Monday.
Green, who spent four years as the head coach of the Chowan University Hawks of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association, knows about winning championships. During his time in Murfreesboro, North Carolina, Green led the Hawks to back-to-back conference titles in 2009 and 2010, the first years the CIAA allowed the school to compete for those championships. He also led the team to a runner-up finish in 2011 before leaving to become an assistant at VCU.
While at VCU, he helped the Rams go 25-6 and finish third in the Atlantic-10 conference. After his one season in Richmond, Green took a position as a volunteer coach with Virginia. In his time in Charlottesville, the Cavaliers improved from last in the Atlantic Athletic Conference to fifth place in his last season on campus.
During his time as coach, Green has worked with middle blockers, helping VCU's Martina Samadan finish fifth nationally in blocks during her freshman season in which she won the 2012 Regional Rookie of the Year award in 2012.
