Following their bitter loss to South Florida, the Bulldogs took it to Troy and could not be stopped on offense.
Rickea Jackson went off, posting a season-high 30 points. Jackson took advantage of mismatches and continued to show her range. 18 of her 30 points were from distance. She took care of the ball, having commited just two turnovers. If Jackson continues to be formidable from distance, expect similar performances.
The Bulldogs may have found a gem in forward Sidney Cooks. While Jessika Carter had an off night with just six points and seven boards, Cooks showed up and showed out with 26. Like Jackson, 18 of her points were from beyond the arc. Cooks adds size and shooting. If she shows up going forward, the Bulldogs may have one of the game’s best starting fives.
Aliyah Matharu added a spark off the bench with 16 points. Matharu can get on a roll at any moment. Also a lethal shooter with range, 12 of her 16 points were from distance. Look for her to earn more minutes in the games to come.
18 shots from long range is nothing to sneeze at and setting such a record is exactly what the Bulldogs needed to regain their confidence.
Hail State!
