SEC Power Poll Ballot: Week 3

Powerpoll2009logo_medium

This was the week that many SEC teams were truly tested and some passed with flying colors while others barely passed at all. Here is our ballot for this week's SEC Power Poll.

1. Florida
The Volunteer defense definitely showed everyone the weaknesses on the Gator offense. Florida is really missing Percy Harvin this year and they have no real threat at wide receiver. They will be leaning heavily on the play-making ability of Tim Tebow to get them to Pasadena this year.

2. Alabama
Alabama may be one of the most complete teams in the SEC this year. They could take over the top slot from Florida soon.

3. Ole Miss
The Rebels have to be one of the highest-ranked, "untested" teams in the country this week. Let's hope that South Carolina brings it's A-game and sends the Rebels back to Hotty Toddy land.

4. LSU
Since their close call against Washington, LSU has had no problem with their last 2 opponents. Their win over Washington is even more impressive now considering the Huskies victory over the USC Trojans Saturday.

5. Georgia
If I didn't know any better, I would have thought the game between UGA and Arkansas was a PAC-10 matchup. Georgia has the slightly better defense and outlasted the Razorbacks on the road.\

6. Auburn
A great come-from-behind victory over the Moutaineers and Auburn just keeps on rolling. The TIgers should easily be 4-0 going in to the Tennessee game on October 3.

7. Tennessee
The Vols defense really put Florida to the test and proved that Monte Kiffin is a defensive mastermind. Crompton is still not the QB that Tennessee needs him to be. They need to get their passing game in shape.

8. South Carolina
The Gamecocks had an easy win this past Saturday and will be turning around to face-off with Ole Miss on Thursday night. They are getting shallow on defense with injuries but get back a key tackle from a 3-game suspension this week. They will need all the help they can get.

9. Arkansas
Offense good. Defense bad. Ryan Mallet can definitely throw the pigskin and their offensive production is excellent. They just don't have the defensive capabilities to compete week in and week out in the SEC.

10. Kentucky
A great win over Louisville this week but they have some injuries that will hurt them going in to the Florida game this weekend.

11. Mississippi State
The defense really turned it around after a dismal performance against Auburn. The offense had some issues, but special teams really won the game for the Bulldogs - something that hasn't been the case in a long time. The upcoming 3-game is scary: LSU, Georgia Tech and Houston.

12. Vanderbilt
They really need to get their offense in gear. They are still under 400 yards total offense after 3 games. Their defense is playing well, but without offense to even out the balance, they will have a tough time this year.
