Rodney Hood Commits to Mississippi State

Meridian (MS) High standout Rodney Hood announced at a press conference today that he will attend and play for Mississippi State University. Rodney selected the bulldogs over Louisville and Florida State.

Hood is ranked by ESPN as the #30 best high school player in the country, and #12 at his position. Last year, Hood averaged 20 points per game for the Meridian Wildcats, helping lead the team to a South State Title and a berth in the 6A state championship game. Rodney earned 2nd Team All State honors by the Jackson, MS-based Clarion Ledger.

ESPN has this to say about Hood's strengths:

Hood is a long and skilled lefty wing that can score with his smooth stroke with range from behind the arc or with a sweet rhythm dribble mid range pull up or get to the rim and use his length to score over smaller defenders. Hood can get on a role and knock down many deep jumpers in a row. Hood can spot up on the break, come off screens or space to the open area when penetration occurs. Hood is a match up nightmare on the perimeter because of his size and scoring ability.
