Mississippi State vs. Memphis Game Day Linkage

Its a gorgeous Saturday in September. A nip in the air, hardly a chance of rain, very low humidity and highs in the mid-80s. Football is here.

We will be packing up the car and heading to Starkville shortly, so don't look for much activity from us today. We will have an in-game open thread go live just before kick-off, so feel free to use it to talk about the action.

In the meantime, here are some links to hold you over.

First off, if you haven't already, make sure you read Spencer Hall's ode to college football over at EDSBD. Pure poetry.

Now, for some related news concerning today's matchup. Over at the Commercial Appeal, we learn a little bit about Memphis' new coach, Larry Porter. Porter played at Memphis as a running back and was an assistant coach at LSU before being called home after the departure of Tommy West.

The Clarion-Ledger talks up the new Cowbell Compromise and if State fans will be able to abide by the rules or not.

The CL also talks about Chris Relf getting the nod to start, while The Commercial Dispatch thinks that Memphis and MSU have similar QB situations.

And finally, if you aren't already pumped enough, give this video a look.

Go State! GTHOM!
