Basketball Dogs fall to Akron 68-58

A cold night in Starkville turned out to be even colder for Bulldog shooters as State could never get going offensively, falling to Akron 68-58 Wednesday night on ESPNU.  State, which shot a dismal 34% from the floor for the game, also committed 19 turnovers and in general just got out hustled by a scrappy Akron team.  Akron was able to capitalize on State's miscues as well, scoring 26 points off of turnovers.

Even Coach Stansbury was willing to admit that his team was outplayed in every facet of last night's game.  From the mstateathletics webpage:

"Give credit to Akron," MSU head coach Rick Stansbury said. "They beat us in every area of the game. We never had control of the game. Akron beat us to every loose ball and every 50-50 ball went their way. They outworked us and made more plays."

State was led in scoring by Point Guard Dee Bost, and PF Arnett Moultrie chipped in 8 points and 15 boards.

State will look to get back on track Saturday as they face South Alabama at the Hump at 1 PM.
