Bullogs 1 win away from NCAA Super Regional

It was quite a homecoming for true freshman Evan Mitchell last night. Getting the start against Austin Peay in the second game of the Atlanta NCAA Regional - and playing less than 30 minutes from his hometown of Marietta - Mitchell pitched 8 innings with a total of eight strike outs and only five hits before he was retired at the beginning of the 9th inning. He allowed 3 runs (all earned) and finished with a pitch count of 128 when he was retired at the beginning of the 9th.

The Bulldogs will face off at 6pm tonight with the winner of a Georgia Tech/Austin Peay rematch. The Governors upset the top seeded Yellow Jackets on Friday night to send them to the losers bracket. As the only undefeated team left in the regional, Mississippi State will have to lose twice to miss the Super Regionals.
