Game Week Depth Chart Released For Memphis Matchup

The game notes for Thursday night's matchup against the Memphis Tigers were released on Sunday, and along with them the first glimpse at an updated depth chart (page 4) since the start of practice.

There were very few surprises in the chart but here are a few of the interesting tidbits.

Left Tackle: As it has all summer, the position vacated by Derek Sherrod is still a toss up between James Carmon (who moved over from the defensive live) and Blaine Clausell. Look for Carmon (6-7, 330lbs) to get the start Thursday night and a heavy rotation with Clausell (6-7, 295lbs) to get both of them plenty of reps.

Quarterback: Chris Relf is clearly our starter this season. Backing him up is an entirely different matter. The depth chart show Tyler Russell and Dylan Favre in the 2nd string spot. Dak Prescott will more than likely get redshirted this season unless something disastrous happens.

Linebacker: Brandon Maye, a senior transfer from Clemson whom many thought would provide us with experience at a position we lost a lot in, is actually #2 on the depth chart behind senior Brandon Wilson. Also of note, redshirt freshman Matthew Wells beat out sophomore Chris Hughes for the starting spot.

Defensive Line: Opposite of senior DE Sean Ferguson, it appears that juniors Shane McCardell and Trevor Stigers are still battling it out for the starting position there.

Special Teams: LaDarius Perkins will be handling kick off returns while Chad Bumphis will handle punt returns.

If this game goes as many fans hope and think it will, expect to see lots of rotation between the first and second string players so that everyone can get plenty of in-game experience before taking the road trip to Auburn.
