State outplayed in Oxford, loses 75-68

Well, it sure wasn't the night most of us thought it would be in Oxford, probably including Ole Miss fans too. Ole Miss played a nearly perfect game, only turned the ball over 5 times and Reginald Buckner went off for 19 points and 15 rebounds as the Rebels handled State 75-68 tonight.

For State, well the offense never really got on track. The 3's weren't falling, but that didn't stop the guys from jacking them up (including the big men). Really no one was consistent on the offensive end except freshman Rodney Hood, who was the constant at Arkansas several weeks ago too. Moultrie looked to be forcing the issue, and Dee couldn't get most of his jumpers to go down.

Ever the Stansbury doubter, I can't help but wonder if we're in for another year where our team looks lost on the road and looks like #1 when playing at home. In the end, it's just one loss though. Also, the loss snapped a 3 game winning streak for State in Oxford, but like they say, all good things must come to an end.

At the end of the game the Ole Miss student section could be heard chanting "this is our state," which is very fair, considering we started that jab. But I have to say if your state is a leaky gym and a subpar basketball team, YOU CAN GLADLY TAKE IT.

State will head to Nashville Saturday to face the Dores while Ole Miss travels to Athens to take on Georgia.
