MSU Beats UConn in Dramatic Fashion, 5-4

After losing late to Memphis on Wednesday, the Diamond Dawgs won late on Friday. State beat Conneticut 5-4 after being down 4-0.

Ben Bracewell started the game for MSU and went three scoreless innings before he left with soreness after 42 pitches. Chris Stratton came in and was greeted rudely as UConn hit a 3-run homer in the 4th inning. From there Stratton settled down and pitched the rest of the game. He improved his record to 3-0.

The Bulldogs got a run on the board in the 7th, and then made it 4-3 on a Trey Porter 2-run homer in the 8th. In the 9th, a single, error by UConn on a sacrifice bunt and another error on a grounder to 3rd led to the tying and winning run for State.

MSU improved to 7-2 on the year.
