On the heels of the twitter leak last night, Mississippi State has announced that head coach Rick Ray will retain assistant coach George Brooks from Rick Stansbury's staff.
Brooks, who played at MSU from 1992-94 and earned his degree in 1997, returned to his alma mater in 2010 after spending 12 years overseeing the program at Meridian Community College, where his teams won numerous conference championships. During his tenure at Meridian, he coached standouts Jamario Moon and Ronald Murray, who went on to enjoy NBA careers. He also had more than 20 players sign with NCAA programs.
Many people are already speculating that this could be a move to keep Rodney Hood on the team. Brooks coached for 12 years at Meridian Community College and probably has some strong ties to Hood.
