In the long history of MSU football there have only been 10 first round NFL draft selections from Mississippi State. Only 10. 250+ players have been drafted from Mississippi State. Many more have played in the NFL, but only 10 have been first round draft picks.
Out of those 10 1st round picks, two have been in the last two years (Derek Sherrod, Fletcher Cox). Before that, it was 1996 when State had two 1st round picks (Eric Moulds, Walt Harris). Before that you have to go back to 1983 to find one.
Looking ahead to 2013, Johnthan Banks is already being projected as a 1st round pick. If that happens it would be the first time since '82-'83 for MSU to have three first round picks over the course of three years.
