100 Days of MSU Football - Day 86

In 1986, a Rocky Felker-led Bulldog squad marched into Neyland Stadium to face the #8 Tennessee Volunteers. Down 23-14 with 5:30 remaining in the game, Don Smith found Lewis Clark (not the explorers) in the endzone to close the gap to 23-20. After getting the ball back, State was facing a 3rd and 1 on their own 38, when QB Don Smith broke off a spectacular 62 yard run to the endzone, pulling the Dogs out in front 27-23.

State would fight off a late Tennessee endzone push at the end of the game to secure the victory, 27-23.
