Questioning Coaching Moves

I am always questioning coaching moves. If you follow me on twitter, you probably saw me questioning John Cohen's in-game moves (especially bunting) quite frequently over the last few weeks. And I know there are a lot of people who don't like to hear people question MSU coaches - for one thing my follower count fluctuates a good bit when I do it.

I will say this about Cohen - I am 100% behind him as the coach of the Diamond Dawgs. I think he's a good recruiter, a good coach, a good motivator, etc....I just don't agree with most of his in-game managerial style. But just because I'm critical of him, doesn't mean I don't support him.

I think a lot of people blur those lines. They think if you disagree with someone, you don't support them. Or if you question a decision made by the MSU administration you don't have the right school spirit, or you aren't a loyal alumni/fan. But don't you have disagreements with your spouse, child, parents and still love them?

I question coaching moves all the time, and I'll probably continue to do so. There's a lot of people who do the same, there's others who just watch without the first hint of agreeing or disagreeing, and others who believe you should never question a coach/administrator. To each his own. At the end of the day, I know why they are the coach and not me...and until you see me writing about how we should fire them, I am supporting them.
