Welcome fans to the 2012 SEC Draft brought to you by For Whom The Cowbell Tolls. Here's the deal...In order to get you prepared (ourselves as well) for the SEC football season, we decided to hold a little draft to highlight some of the best players in the conference.
The Rules:
- 4 Teams, 10 Rounds, Snake Format
- Each team must select a: QB, RB, WR, OL Unit, DL, LB, and DB.
- Each team has three "flex" picks, which can be a player from any position.
- One minute time limit per pick. If a team goes over, they must select Ole Miss QB, Bo Wallace.
Round 1 / Pick 1 - @cristilmethod: Tyler Wilson, QB, Arkansas
Round 1 / Pick 2 - @justinrsutton: Marcus Lattimore, RB, South Carolina
Round 1 / Pick 3 - @croomdiaries: Aaron Murray, QB, Georgia
Round 1 / Pick 4 - @robnoladog: Tyrann Mathieu, DB, LSU
@robnoladog: No real surprises in the first round, except maybe my pick of Mathieu, but HONEY BADGER DON'T CARE.
@croomdiaries: Nice picks all the way around. Not picking Jarvis Jones was hard, but I thought I needed to have a top flight QB.
Round 2 / Pick 1 (5) - @robnoladog: Jarvis Jones, LB, Georgia
Round 2 / Pick 2 (6) - @croomdiaries: Sam Montgomery, DE, LSU
Round 2 / Pick 3 (7) - @justinrsutton: Jonathan Banks, DB, MSU
Round 2 / Pick 4 (8) - @thecristilmethod: Eddie Lacy, RB, Alabama
@robnoladog: I guess I started the run on defensive players at the end of the first, which in turn created a need for houndstooth so great that @cristilmethod selected Eddie Lacy four rounds before anyone would have even thought about him.
Round 3 / Pick 1 (9) - @croomdiaries: Alabama O-Line
Round 3 / Pick 2 (10) - @cristilmethod: Barkevious Mingo, DE, LSU
Round 3 / Pick 3 (11) - @justinrsutton: Tyler Bray, QB, Tennessee
Round 3 / Pick 4 (12) - @robnoladog: Da'Rick Rogers, WR, Tennessee
@robnoladog: The Eddie Lacy pick threw the entire draft into 100% ROLL TIDE mode. Croom couldn't wait to draft Bama's O-Line, and he didn't. We had to exhume Bear Bryant's body to prove that he is in fact dead, after that the draft returned to normal order.
@croomdiaries: I pulled a Joe Biden. Except I actually got value from my gaffe.
Round 4 / Pick 1 (13) - @robnoladog: Knile Davis, RB, Arkansas
Round 4 / Pick 2 (14) - @croomdiaries: CJ Mosley, LB, Alabama
Round 4 / Pick 3 (15) - @justinrsutton: Jon Bostic, LB, Florida
Round 4 / Pick 4 (16) - @thecristilmethod: LSU O-Line
@robnoladog: Thrilled about getting Davis here. Bostic was a surprise, but with his retirement from the Florida Highway Patrol he was looking for something to pass the time.
@croomdiaries: Knile Davis was possibly the best value in this draft.
Round 5 / Pick 1 (17) - @cristilmethod: Cobi Hamilton, WR, Arkansas
Round 5 / Pick 2 (18) - @justinrsutton: Texas A&M O-Line
Round 5 / Pick 3 (19) - @croomdiaries: Robert Lester, DB, Alabama
Round 5 / Pick 4 (20) - @robnoladog: Eric Reid, DB, LSU
@robnoladog: I don't think it's question any more...Croom is a closet Crimson Tide fan.
@croomdiaries: /points finger cross at robnoladog.
Round 6 / Pick 1 (21) - @robnoladog: Jadeveon Clowney, DE, South Carolina
Round 6 / Pick 2 (22) - @croomdiaries: Zac Stacy, RB, Vanderbilt
Round 6 / Pick 3 (23) - @justinrsutton: Justin Hunter, WR, Tennessee
Round 6 / Pick 4 (24) - @thecristilmethod: Nico Johnson, LB, Alabama
@robnoladog: Lots of quality in this round. All potential first-team All-SEC guys.
Round 7 / Pick 1 (25) - @cristilmethod: Bacarri Rambo, DB, Georgia
Round 7 / Pick 2 (26) - @justinrsutton: TJ Moe, WR, Missouri
Round 7 / Pick 3 (27) - @croomdiaries: Nickoe Whitley, DB, Miss State
Round 7 / Pick 4 (28) - @robnoladog: James Franklin, QB, Missouri
@robnoladog: Mark continues to draft amazing names (Rambo and Mingo)...Moe is a media favorite after SEC Media Days.
Round 8 / Pick 1 (29) - @robnoladog: Dorial Green-Beckham, WR, Missouri
Round 8 / Pick 2 (30) - @croomdiaries: Emory Blake, WR, Auburn
Round 8 / Pick 3 (31) - @justinrsutton: Josh Boyd, DL, Miss State
Round 8 / Pick 4 (32) - @thecristilmethod: Odell Beckham Jr., WR, LSU
@robnoladog: I got my sleeper pick, and the only freshman that will be drafted but he's 6'6 220 lbs and the #1 recruit in the country. I like my chances. Also, two Beckham's drafted...Since when did this become an MLS Draft?
@croomdiaries: I think this round featured the most chances, as in players who have potential and we're banking on them stepping up in 2012.
Round 9 / Pick 1 (33) - @cristilmethod: LaDarius Perkins, RB, Miss State
Round 9 / Pick 2 (34) - @justinrsutton: Christine Michael, RB, TAMU
Round 9 / Pick 3 (35) - @croomdiaries: Cam Lawrence, LB, Miss State
Round 9 / Pick 4 (36) - @robnoladog: Ryan Swope, WR, TAMU
@roboladog: Everyone is getting their homer picks in, but I'm a bad Bulldog and will not follow that road.
@croomdiaries: Lots of maroon and white in this round. I think Justin beat cristilmethod on the RB picks, sorry Perk.
Round 10 / Pick 1 (37) - @robnoladog: Arkansas O-Line
Round 10 / Pick 2 (38) - @croomdiaries: Corey Lemonier, DL, Auburn
Round 10 / Pick 3 (39) - @justinrsutton: AJ McCarron, QB, Alabama
Round 10 / Pick 4 (40) - @thecristilmethod: Alonzo Highsmith, LB, Arkansas
@croomdiaries: I CANNOT BELIEVE I DID NOT PICK JOHN JENKINS! STUPID STUPID STUPID!
