100 Days of MSU Football - Day 31

We've officially entered a month that features football, you guys! In today's countdown post, we take a look at the 2011 Egg Bowl, a game State won handily over the Rebels 31-3.

On a soggy evening last November 26th, State took to Davis Wade for the final regular season game of the 2011 season, looking to attain several goals.

1) State was seeking to get to 6 wins, and become eligible for a bowl game for the second straight season.

2) A win over Ole Miss would put State at 3 victories in a row in the Egg Bowl series, a feat we had not accomplished in nearly 70 years.

From start to stop, State dominated the game, and despite the harsh conditions, pulled away with a solid 31-3 victory. State used 247 yards on the ground to power the offensive attack, led individually by senior Vick Ballard, whose 144 yards put him over the 1,000 yard mark for the first time as a Bulldog.
